Using a stainless steel razor properly on wet, non tempered glass will not cause scratches or damage. The key is to use a new, non rusted razor, ample glass cleaning solution and make sure the window does not have fabricating debris. We also use a specific method that ensures no damage is done to the frames while using it.
Razors are most effective at removing large debris that can not be scrubbed off like paint overspray, tape, artillery fungus spores and more.
First we check in an inconspicuous location to see if there are fabricating debris. If there are, it feels and sounds like sandpaper on the glass. We will not razor the window if there are fragmented debris and revert to using steel wool only. Our method to razoring the window always pushes the soap to the frame not against it. We scrape up to the top, down to the bottom and middle to side. The edge of the razor does not run alongside the frame.
